About Us

From the outset, I wanted to create a website that could be used by the thousands of local groups and individuals who are putting on events in the community. As a result of my background (by training I am an opera singer), the site was initially focused on the arts and theatre, but I soon realised that localboxoffice was more about bringing local events to local communtiies. How could people find out what was happening in their county, their town, their village, their street?  If people are staying in a town or village for the weekend, how could they find out what was on locally. Having worked now for a number of years with local choirs and in local theatres, I have realised that there is so much talent, so much ambition out there, but so many times, audiences are less than half full. By listing your event on localboxoffice, you are getting to a much wider audience.

The other reason for starting localboxoffice was that I couldn't find a cost effective way to sell tickets for a series of concerts I was doing. These concerts were not at major venues but instead they were being held at humble, honest local village and church halls and of course there was no ticketing facilities available.Yet as anyone who has organized an event will know, having a way to sell tickets and especially tickets in advance can be very important in achieving a smooth running event. Localboxoffice is designed so that organizations using the site can do as little or as much as like. Events may be small scale or nationally coordinated festivals - we can provide the box office facilites for both ends of the spectrum.

I hope you have a positive experience when using the site, but if you have any comments or feedback, please don't hesitate to contact me at stephen@localboxoffice.com
